Hairspray Live! is a television special that aired live on NBC on December 7, 2016. LD Allen Branton, who lit the show on Universal Studios back lot, expounded on the logistical complexities of simultaneously lighting and controlling 17 different locations, each with its own lighting scheme, on live TV, making this endeavor a technical challenge of monumental scale.
